Astronomy Specialist
The Sky-Watcher EQ6-R is now available with either the Wi-Fi adapter or hand controller.
The Sky-Watcher EQ6-R is the result of years of improving the EQ6 design. The new transmission belts between the motors and worm gears reduce the backlash for improved guiding accuracy. The integrated bubble level and the adjustable tripod legs make the levelling easy, the azimuth and altitude axis can be fine adjusted for a precise polar alignment.
The new features of the EQ6-R are:
The Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Go-To is designed for the astrophotographer who wants a solid mount with a payload of up to 20kg. It is compatible with the Ascom drivers but also allows to guide with the ST4 protocol. The periodic error can be reduced through the PPEC (Permanent Periodic Error Correction).
The SynScan computerised go-to system has a database with 42,900 objects to quickly locate and slew to target. It has 9 slewing speeds up to 800 times the sidereal speed (3.3°/sec).
The EQ6-R is equipped with a SNAP port for controlling the camera shutter release. Working with the SynScan hand control’s “Camera Control” function, you can take batch exposures of up to 8 groups of “Exposure-time & Frames”.

Thank you for making my purchase easy and pain free it was a very good experience
Tracking is near silent, slewing very accurate, easy to operate mount via phone even or via the PC.
Guiding is where this mount really shines, sub-arcsecond guiding is now possible.
Polar alignment is quite easy thanks to the large knobs.
Balancing is a bit tricky with lighter payload, and the mount is top heavy so its something to consider.
Having an additional smaller counterweight is also advisable. Super happy so far.
