ZWO ASI676MC [COLOUR]

The ZWO ASI 676MC is a professional colour planetary camera containing the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX676 CMOS backlit colour sensor which has a diagonal of 1/1.6" and a resolution of 12 MP with 2.0µm pixels. Not only is the 676MC an excellent planetary imager, but it is ideal as an all-sky camera and perfectly suited for recording meteors.

The ASI676MC has a square format sensor which makes stitching together mosaics much simpler. This square sensor is also better suited to wide-angle and fisheye lenses, making it a great choice as a full sky surveillance camera.

The sensor has a maximum QE up to 83%. This high sensitivity across the visible and near IR light spectrum and very low readout noise make it ideal for high resolution planetary imaging. Like all recent ZWO cameras, the ASI676MC has no amp glow.

The USB 3.0 Port provides 5Gbps bandwidth and lets the camera run at 31.2fps (12bit, normal mode) at full resolution (12 Megapixels). Frame rate can be limited by the power of the computer and the writing speed of your hard disk. For higher performance it is suggested to use Solid State Drives. 

The ASI676MC has a HCG mode which effectively reduces readout noise at high gain settings while preserving the same wide dynamic range that you would get at low gain. From 180 gain and higher, HCG mode will automatically activate, giving a read noise as low as 0.56e- with a dynamic range close to 11 stops.
