The Sky-Watcher 180/2700 Skymax Maksutov-Cassegrain is a compact and powerful optical design that combines a front meniscus and two mirrors. As the optical tube is closed by the meniscus, the mirrors are protected from atmospheric agents such as humidity and dust. Also a closed tube does not suffer from tube currents that limit the resolution power.
The tube is compact but the focal length is long, allowing high magnification with the medium focal length eyepieces.
The Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope is ideal for high resolution observations and planetary imaging. Considering the long focal length of this telescope and the small obstruction, the SkyWax 180 is ideal for high resolution astrophotography of the moon and the planets.
The 2" focuser makes this telescope suitable for a vast array of accessories. The 2" eyepiece holder is connected to a standard 2"-24 Schmidt-Cassegrain thread.
The meniscus is fully-multi coated for an improved light gathering performance.
