The QHY1253P is a high-performance scientific camera built around the Sony IMX253 Global Shutter CMOS sensor, enhanced with a four-direction polariser array embedded at the pixel level, ideal for advanced optical analysis of gemstones, geology and material science, biology science.

Available in monochrome configuration, this camera is a powerful evolution from its predecessor, the QHY550P — now with a larger sensor area for more detailed and expansive imaging.

What sets the QHY1253P apart is its integrated dual-stage TEC cooling system, capable of lowering the sensor temperature up to -35°C below ambient. This significantly reduces dark current noise, which is essential for detecting subtle variations in polarized light.

Since the polariser is formed during the semiconductor process, form and formulation of polariser, uniformity, mass productivity and durability are excellent compared to conventional polarisation sensors. Furthermore, The polarised sensor is covered with an anti-reflection layer which helps to reduce reflectance and avoids flaring and ghosting.

The QHY1253M PRO is equipped with a global shutter that unlike the common rolling shutter technology used in most CMOS cameras, guarantees a uniform exposure for the whole image area, beginning and ending at exactly the same time. This type of shutter is used to generate undistorted images in high precision applications, specially when the subjects are high speed moving objects and there is atmospheric agitation.
