MORAVIAN SFW XXL 8

The Moravian XXL 8 Standalone Filter Wheel is a motorized filter wheel for C5 series cameras. Currently only one model is available:

• SFW-XXL-8 for 8 x 65 x 65mm square unmounted filters.

Unlike the EFW series of external filter wheels, the SFW standalone filter wheels are fully independent of the camera, meaning they can be controlled separately and powered via their own 12V DC power supply. The SFW is compatible with both C5A and C5S body styles and "XL" size adapters.

Due to the size and amount of filter slots present in the SFW, two overlapping 5-position filter carousels are required. If a single large carousel was used, the overall body of the filter wheel would be excessively large and heavy. This means that one slot must remain clear in each carousel, resulting in a total filter capacity of 8 filters.

The SFW filter wheels are equipped with a 12V DC 5.5 x 2.5 mm power plug as well as USB 1.1 data connection. Moravian's SIPS v4.1 and later software contains a native driver for these wheels. Additionally, Moravian Camera Ethernet Adapter firmware, ASCOM drivers for Windows, Linux libraries and INDI/INDIGO drivers are available. 

The Moravian Camera SDK contains libraries, headers and API description allowing to control the SFW from other software packages as well as from Python etc.

While all EFWs from “XS” to “L” size are designed to preserve the very same backfocus distance on all C-series cameras, the SFW naturally increases the backfocus distance consumed because of the design using two overlapping wheels. The resulting backfocus distance depends on the adapter used.
