Dew heaters are essential accessories to avoid the condensation of dew on lenses, mirrors and SC correcting plates. They incorporate an electric resistance that gently heats up the telescope to stop any condensation. The dew heater bands have to be placed on the optical tube in correspondence with the optical element.

They can be powered with a variable DC power source up to 12V or through one of the EAGLE control units. To optimize the power absorption, the dew heater can be controlled by ECCO (Environmental Computerized COntroller) that measures the dew point and communicates with EAGLE to regulate the voltage accordingly.

The Prima Luce Lab dew heater for 80mm tubes can be tightly locked around your optical tube by using the velcro patch. The closing strip is elastic and allows to connect it to telescopes with a diameter up to 70mm - 90mm.

The dew heater can be powered by a female 2.5mm RCA jack.

A well made tool

Lens heaters for dew control are fairly basic pieces of equipment for both visual and photo astronomers, so there is little one can say that isn't a motherhood statement! Still, like several other Prima Luce heaters I own, this one is well made and works quite well. The only issue I find with it is the considerable length of power cable supplied. It would be nice to have it shorter with an extension cable to be used as desired. As I bring all my power up to the 'scope in the form of a cable loom, all I need is a 0.5m length of cable. I have to fold up and secure the surplus to ensure it doesn't snag on anything. I'm sure others welcome the long cable length, though.
