ASKAR 50P f/3.8 APO REFRACTOR

The Askar 50P is an apochromatic quadruplet flat-field astrograph that offers high performance in a compact package. The fast Petzval design makes it perfect for wide-angle astrophotography, with one Super-low dispersion glass (SD) element that minimizes chromatic aberration. 

Like many Askar refractors, the 50P does not need an external field flattener. While its image circle covers sensors as large as APS-C, it excels at imaging with 1" sensors. The OTA itself weighs just 1.4kg and has an overall length of 147mm with the dew shield contracted, making it easy to transport. Its compact size means it can also be used as premium guide scope.

The sing-speed helical focuser is smooth and familiar to anyone who has used traditional camera lenses. Optional autofocusers like the ZWO EAF can be attached with the additional belt drive kit (sold separately). 

Rear M54 x 0.75 and M48 x 0.75 threads provide a straightforward connection to common imaging trains. Built-in M48 filter threads allow standard 2" mounted filters to be added. The front of the telescope features an M52 filter thread for use with common terrestrial photography filters.

Unlike most refractors, the 50P includes two finderscope bases on either side of the focuser, allowing you to attach both a standard guide scope and control unit such as the ASIAIR without the need for additional accessories. The handlebar also includes a finder-style slot, allowing for even more possibilities.

The inner surfaces of the retractable dew shield are covered with matte felt and the interior of the telescope tube has matte paint and internal baffles, to reduce internal reflections and light scattering.
