SKYWATCHER HEQ5-R PRO DUAL SADDLE MOUNT

The next generation Sky-Watcher HEQ5-R Pro Dual Saddle Mount is an evolution of one of the most popular mounts for astrophotography, now fitted with transmission belts between the motors and worm gears, greatly reducing backlash and improving tracking performance.

In addition to the new belt-drive system, the worm wheels themselves have been upgraded, now with 160 teeth on the RA axis and 144 teeth on the DEC axis, allowing for greater payload capacity and enhanced tracking accuracy.

Not only have the mechanics been modernised, but the dual saddle now integrates a USB hub and power ports to simplify cable management and provide direct connections for cameras, autofocusers and other accessories.

With a mount head weight of 12kg this mount is light enough to be carried anywhere in search of dark skies and solar eclipses. A built-in carrying handle makes setup and teardown much easier. The integrated bubble level and the adjustable tripod legs make the leveling easy. The azimuth and altitude axis can be adjusted for a precise polar alignment.

The HEQ5 is compatible with the ASCOM drivers but also allows you to guide with the ST4 protocol. The periodic error can be reduced through the PPEC (Permanent Periodic Error Correction). 

The SynScan computerised go-to system has a database with 42,900 objects to quickly locate and slew to target. It has 9 slewing speeds up to 800 times the sidereal speed (3.3°/sec).

The dual dovetail saddle can hold both Vixen-style and Losmandy-style bars.
