The QHY811M is a medium format, high resolution cooled astronomy camera, featuring the Sony IMX811 back-illuminated CMOS sensor with an astounding 245 megapixels. Featuring a native 16-bit ADC, ultra-low read noise of 1.2e- at high gain and extremely low dark current, the QHY811 is perfect for professional and research applications or series amateur imaging (when matched with a suitably corrected telescope).
Unlike typical CMOS sensors, the IMX811 is capable of charge-domain binning (FD binning), which is true hardware pixel binning similar to that found in CCDs. This results in 4x the signal without the associated increase in noise of software binning.
The QHY811M has a 19240 x 12840 pixel array with 2.81μm pixels. The sensor diagonal is 64.84mm, therefore an observatory-class telescope such as a Planewave CDK is recommended.
The camera has two-stage TEC cooling capable of 35 degrees below ambient. Optional liquid cooling is available separately - contact us for more information.
Its 2GB DDR3 memory buffer is especially useful for situations where USB traffic is high, the writing speed of your computer is slow or is occupied with other processes.
The QHY811 has only 1.2 electrons of read noise at high gain and 0.6FPS at 16-bit, 1.5FPS 8-bit high readout speed. For applications where higher frame rates are needed, the optional PCIE grabber card kit allows rock-solid connection via 2 x 10Gb fibre, offering 1.5FPS at 16-bit or 2FPS at 8-bit.
