The QHY4040 Series is a line of high-performance scientific CMOS cameras designed for advanced imaging applications in astronomy, life sciences, industrial inspection, and scientific research. Featuring a large 36.9mm × 36.9mm sensor with 4096 × 4096 resolution, this series offers three specialized variants to meet distinct imaging needs:

QHY4040 Standard: Equipped with air cooling and a front-illuminated (FSI) sensor, ideal for general-purpose imaging.

QHY4040 Pro I FSI: Incorporates thermoelectric cooling and a sealed chamber with a front-illuminated sensor for enhanced noise reduction and thermal stability.

QHY4040 Pro I BSI: The back-illuminated version of the Pro I model, offering significantly higher quantum efficiency and sensitivity—perfect for low-light or UV imaging conditions.

All models support dual-channel readout, 12-bit or 16-bit ADC, fast frame rates, onboard DDR3 buffer, and flexible ROI settings for custom imaging scenarios. The QHY4040 is especially suited for applications requiring large field of view, low read noise, and high dynamic range.

QHY4040 Pro supports both live video mode and single-frame mode. In single-frame mode the noise is the same with the 8FPS @ 16BIT mode in Live Video Mode which supports five different CMOS clocks. The camera reaches the maximum frame rate from 8FPS to 20FPS.
