WILLIAM OPTICS MIGHTY CAT 71 f/3.2 30th ANNIVERSARY

The William Optics Mighty Cat 71 30th Anniversary is a groundbreaking new entry in the CAT series of Petzval refractors, with an ultra-fast f/3.2 optical system which maintains a 43.2mm image circle. 

Celebrating three decades of optical innovation, this exclusive 100-set limited run features a custom "Cosmic Visitor" design adorned with intricate extraterrestrial motifs — a tribute to 30 years of peering into the unknown and chasing the mysteries of the universe.

The Mighty Cat 71's flat-field 7-element optics, stable internal WIFD focusing system and playful design hints at technology from another world, and is built for demanding deep-sky imaging with modern full-frame and cropped-sensor camera systems.

The WIFD series has been designed from the ground up to support the latest large and heavy high-resolution cooled cameras and accessories. The focuser movement is integrated inside the main OTA, so no external focuser drawtube is needed. This will reduce tilt caused by focuser sag and mechanical flex and lessen vignetting.

The focuser utilizes a zero image shift rack & pinion mechanism for precise adjustability of critical focus, with an external graduated display showing focus position. The lens cell is protected from the elements and is designed to not come out of alignment. The focuser is fully compatible with the ZWO EAF without the need for optional accessories.

The built-in Sensor Tilt Xterminator (STX-R) is a heavy duty rear tilt and rotation interface designed to support modern imaging setups, reducing the chance of rear-end sag while retaining convenient sensor-squaring capability.

Like all CAT series telescopes, the Mighty Cat 71 includes William Optics' Anti-Shrink lens cell, which helps maintain stable optical alignment under changing temperature conditions. The CNC-machined and anodized handle bar with finder-style saddle is perfect for attaching a guide scope or other accessories.

M54 x 0.75 and M48 x 0.75 threads are available to connect a wide variety of imaging systems. 

Note on the tension screw:
When using the telescope with a focusing motor, please ensure that the tension screw is not over-tightened. Over-tightening the tension screw may cause damage to the focuser.
Think of it like driving a car and pressing the gas pedal while also pressing the brake simultaneously. Just as this action could harm your car's systems, over-tightening the tension screw could compromise the functionality of your telescope's focuser.
