The FLI Aurora AR461 Mono is a high performance cooled monochrome astronomy camera using the Sony IMX461 CMOS sensor with a resolution of 11656× 8742 pixels at 3.76μm. The massive 54.8mm diagonal field of view is a perfect match for long focal length telescopes such as PlaneWave CDKs and RCs.

Like all FLI cameras, the AR461 is designed for 24/7 operation, making it ideal for professional remote observatories where reliability is paramount.
This latest generation of Sony back-illuminated sensors are natively 16-bit with exceptional sensitivity, full-well capacity, extremely low read noise and linear response to light. With a peak quantum efficiency of 90% and large dynamic range of 93.6dB, the AR461 excels at deep sky imaging of faint targets.

The CMOS sensors found in these cameras have a response to light that is linear very close to the saturation point. This means the Aurora series cameras can be used for advanced research and scientific applications like variable star photometry and transiting exoplanets.
The regulated thermoelectric air cooler is capable of cooling the CMOS sensor to approximately 50°C below ambient temperature. The sensor temperature is regulated with ±0.1 °C precision. High temperature reduction and precision regulation ensure very low dark current for long exposures and allow proper image calibration. Aurora series cameras are also plumbed for liquid circulation, further increasing cooling capabilities (external liquid circulation connectors sold separately).
The USB 3.0 port operates at 5 Gbps while the QSFP fibre optic connections allow for even faster transfer rates and electrical isolation.
