Our USB to Serial control cables allow you to easily connect your SkyWatcher or iOptron mounts to any Windows computer. This will allow direct control of the mount using EQMOD or iOptron Commander.

 

Supported mounts

For iOptron CEM25, CEM60, IEQ30, IEQ45, ZEQ25 and Smart EQ Pro, choose the RJ9 4P4C version. This will connect to your PC via the mount for direct control, or to the hand controller for updating its firmware.

For the SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro, AZ-EQ6GT, HEQ5 and NEQ6 Pro, choose the RJ45 version. This will connect directly to the mount, bypassing the hand controller.

For older SkyWatcher mounts such as the EQ6, EQ5 or NEQ6, choose the DB9 version. This will connect directly to the mount, bypassing the hand controller.

 

In order to use the USB-Serial cables, you need to download and install the FTDI Virtual COM Port driver. This will allow the mount to appear as connected to an additional COM port.

      hmmm......

      Yes, it worked no problems with the AZeq6 / ASI air plus. But, if I had picked this cable up off the bench and you asked me what I thought it was worth from feeling the quality of the cable.....I would have said $12. It feels like a fairly thin, inflexible and 'plasticy' cable. For $69 I would have expected something more like the higher spec HDMI or USB C charging cables with strong flexible fittings. I have to wonder if this cable really is this expensive to manufacture. Then again, $12 only buys you an iceberg lettuce at the moment.....
