The Next Generation 2025 ZWO Electronic Filter Wheel 7 x 2" is a major upgrade over the previous generation with a new anti light-leak design and refined mechanics for smoother, more consistent rotation.
The new 2025 EFW series introduces a series of structural refinements to eliminate light leakage from all directions, including:
Upgraded Sealing | A re-engineered slot-fit chassis provides a tighter mechanical interface between the front and rear covers, minimizing potential ingress points for stray light.
Dual Light-Blocking Protection | Newly-added light-blocking pads on both lateral connection interfaces creates an addition optical barrier, resulting in cleaner, more uniform frames during long exposures.
Fully Enclosed Motor Compartment | The motor assembly is now completely sealed, improving both light isolation and environmental resistance for more reliable operation over time.
Like the previous generation, the 2025 EFW 7 x 2" is CNC machined and has an optical thickness of only 20mm. This model can take 7 x 2" mounted or 7 x 50mm round unmounted filters.
The power absorption of the EFW is only 120mAh @ 5V so any USB cable can power it up. The EFW connects to your imaging system via the built-in USB-C port using the included USB2.0 Type-A to Type-C cable.
The internal filter carousel is made from 6061 aluminium alloy, reducing weight while maintaining exceptional strength and stability. A high-precision stepper motor ensures consistent, reliable rotation with precision position indexing.
