The ZWO ASI585MM AIR integrates the powerful imaging and guiding capabilities with the ASIAIR smart Wi-Fi control unit. Say goodbye to complicated setups with painful cable management and enjoy a seamless, hassle-free astrophotography experience!

 

 

The main imaging sensor is the back-illuminated Sony IMX585 APS-C with a QE up to 91%, a bit rate of 12 bits and ultra-low 0.7e readout noise. Using the latest hardware, full well capacity is extended to 38.7ke-. Plus, no amp glow!

 

 

The guide sensor is the SC2210 Type 1/1.8 (the same sensor used in the ASI220MM Mini) with excellent NIR sensitivity, 4µm pixels in an array of 1920 x 1080 at 7.68 x 4.32mm, and full well depth of 8780 e-. With an exceptional QE peak of 92% at 500nm and readout noise as low as 0.6e-, it is the perfect sensor for guiding behind light pollution filters.

Note: as it is effectively a built-in OAG, the stars visible to the guide sensor may appear distorted with certain telescopes that don't have a large corrected field of view. This will not affect normal use.

Thanks to the massive 256GB of integrated EMMC storage, the ASI585MM Air allows you to capture multiple targets over different sessions with ease. The USB 2.0 ports support up to 1TB of external storage, giving you plenty of room for your images. The camera features 2GB of built-in DDR4 memory.

 

 

Sony’s back-illuminated CMOS technology improves sensitivity, minimizes noise, reduces power consumption and increases data download speed. In a conventional front-illumination structure, the interconnection of metal wiring and transistors are above the photosensitive silicon surface (photo diode), reducing the overall sensitivity and therefore the quantum efficiency. 

 

 

The ASI585MM Air features a 12bit ADC that can achieve a dynamic range output of 12 stops. This improves the image sharpness and contrast significantly and the colour shades are smoother and more natural. When the gain value is 200, the HCG high gain mode is automatically activated and the readout noise is greatly reduced while the dynamic range basically remains unchanged.  Its dark current is extremely low, even at 0°C.

 

The ZWO ASI 585MM AIR can wirelessly connect to ASIStudio and 3d-party software controlled by ASCOM extended protocl Alpaca (ASCOM Platform V6.6 required).

 

 

The live stack process is supported by the camera and allows you to visualise on your device the result during your imaging session. Controls for brightness, contrast and others will make possible adjustments for yourt final image.

 

 

 

The 2 stage TEC cooling system allows a ΔT of 35°C below air temperature. The built-in dew heater avoids the problem of dew condensation on the optical window of the sensor. The heater can be turned off via software, the power of the heater is 5W.

 

 

The ASI585MM Air camera is equipped with an AR (Anti-Reflective) coated protective window, which enhances light transmission and minimizes reflections.

Note: All cooled ZWO cameras require an external power supply of 12V at 3-5A with a 2.1×5.5 mm connector (positive tip).

 

The ASI585MM Air's enhanced external dual-band antenna supports both 2.4G and 5G frequencies and offers stable and smooth connectivity within 20 metres. With the ASIAIR app for smartphones and tablets, you can control your entire rig including cameras, mount and electronic focuser. With ASCOM Alpaca, you can control the camera itself over Wi-Fi using your preferred imaging software such as N.I.N.A.
