The QHY294M Pro Kit 3 includes the following items:
- cooled monochrome CMOS camera
- Ultra Slim 7 x 1.25 "/7 x 31mm motorized filter wheel
The QHY294M Pro camera is capable unlocking the on-chip binning to provide two readout modes. The first mode reads the sensor in "locked" mode with the original resolution of 11.6Mp, 4.63µm pixel and an bitrate of 14 bits. The second read mode unlocks the binning to produce a resolution of 46.8Mp with 2.315µm pixel and bitrate of 12 bits.
This camera has a two-stage TEC cooling system that brings the temperature of the sensor 30°C/35C° below ambient for low noise imaging, even in warm climates. The QHY 294M Pro has zero amplifier glow no matter how long the exposure is.
The QHY 294M Pro employs a full anti-dew technology for both CCD sensor cover glass and the sensor chamber optical window. In order to avoid halos around bright stars, the QHY 294M Pro has an AR coated optical window on both sides rather than the common IR/UV cut window. Also, the protection glass of the sensor is AR coated to maximize light transmission and minimize internal reflections. The QHY CFW3 Small is a motorized filter wheel designed for 7 filters with a size of 1.25" and 7 unmounted filters with a diameter of 31mm.
It uses a high quality ultra-thin hybrid stepper motor that compared to standard electrical motors, is more precise as it has a smaller stepper angle. The motor is enclosed to prevent dust from entering, thus improving reliability and the durability of the motor. The QHYCFW3 main body is CNC machined from a single piece of aluminium, sandblasted and anodized for a high quality finish.
All the QHY filter wheels have a female dovetail ring for the QHY cameras. Under this removable ring the CFW3 Small filter wheel has a standard M42 x 0.75 female connection. The Optolong LRGB 1.25" filters are specially designed for deep space photography with monochrome cameras. The strict manufacturing process and the quality control guarantees a tight tolerance of the filter thickness (± 0.05mm) which makes these filters parfocal.
Each filter is fully multi-coated to minimise internal reflections, halos around stars and to assure a high transmission which is above 95%. Each filter cuts off the ultraviolet and infrared light so there is no need to use the L filter in combination with the colour filters.
The design of these filters is optimised to cut out the typical yellow emission of the sodium and mercury lamps around 589nm. The Optolong 7nm H-Alpha, 6.5nm SII & 6.5nm OIII narrow-band filters boost the contrast of emission nebulae and supernova remnants for professional results, even under a bright sky affected by light pollution.
The maximum transmission of each filter is above 80% and the transmission off band is only 0.1%. This is a value often undisclosed by other filter producers and it is critical to darken the sky background and minimise the halos around the stars.
