The Player One Neptune series is designed specifically for high-end planetary imaging applications. The Neptune-C features Sony's new IMX464 1/1.8" colour CMOS sensor with a diagonal of 9mm. This is equivalent to an enhanced version of the popular IMX462, with a bigger chip size and resolution.



The IMX464's 2.9μm pixel size, full well depth of 12Ke- and 4.2MP resolution make it perfect for high resolution planetary and solar photography with a range of telescopes. 



The Neptune-C II has exceptional IR sensitivity, making it suitable for infrared imaging with IR-Pass and CH4 filters. This makes it possible to try IR guiding, which should reduce the effects of seeing.

With 256MB of DDR3 memory and USB3.0, the camera delivers a fast frame rate of up to 60FPS without frame dropping in RAW8 mode (with 10-bit ADC).




The Neptune-C II camera can reach a low readout noise of 0.75e at a gain of 350 and around 0.71e at a gain of 400. It also has a unique High Gain Conversion mode, which will automatically turn on when the camera gain setting is >80. The HCG mode can greatly reduce the readout noise and retain the same high dynamic range as the low gain.

Note: When recording images, since the actual writing speed will be affected by the writing speed of the hard disk itself, therefore it is recommended that you use a high-quality solid state drive to record data to give full play to the performance of the camera.



Player One's planetary and solar cameras feature DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) technology. This is a sort of automatic dark frame subtraction of hot/stuck pixels which is performed in-camera.

The Apollo series features a sensor tilt plate for removing Newton rings. The built-in high density foam blocks light from the side slits without any leakage.
