SharpStar manufactures very high quality apochromatic triplet and Petzval refractors and fast reflector astrographs for experienced astrophotographers who demand exceptional performance with full-frame sensors.
Their apo refractors feature extra low dispersion lenses for superb chromatic correction and heavy duty rack and pinion focusers. All the lenses are fully multi-coated and the tube is internally flocked to reduce reflections and absorb stray light. The tube is made of aluminium, the rack and pinion focusing mechanism of brass and the mechanical components are engineered to provide the best rigidity, performance and durability.
The Sharpstar 150HNT is an astrograph with the ultra fast focal ratio of f/2.8 and a focal length of 420mm. Different from the Newton optical design, this telescope installs a hyperbolic primary mirror, a large 70mm secondary mirror and a 3 element corrector to be placed before the focal plane.
The Sharpstar 200PNT is an astrograph with an ultra fast focal ratio of f/3.2 and a focal length of 640mm. This telescope installs a parabolic primary mirror, a large 790mm secondary mirror and a 4 elements 0.85x corrector to be placed before the focal plane.
The mirrors are made of H-PZ33 borosilicate glass with a similar low expansion thermal coefficient of the Pyrex. The enhanced aluminum mirror coating ensures a reflectivity over 96%. The large secondary mirrors are rigidly kept in place by the monopiece secondary mirror spider that does not bend or twist.
Every SharpStar telescope is inspected on the optical bench by Testar and guaranteed against defects. To ensure optimal performance, reflector telescopes are checked by using a professional laser collimator.
