The Skywatcher Evostar 72ED (also known as the Evoguide 72ED) is an apochromatic doublet refractor that offers high performance for visual observers and astrophotographers. The objective lens features extra-low dispersion glass (ED) that minimizes the chromatic aberration for excellent colour correction. The glass used in this 72 ED Evostar is different from the other glass used in other Evostar telescopes, however chromatic aberration is lower in small diameter refractors.
The 2" Crayford focuser is solid, precise and backlash free. It operates at two speeds due to the 10:1 reduction mechanism for an extra fine focusing adjustment, which is paramount for astrophotography and high resolution observations.
The objective lens is fully multi coated with the Skywatcher proprietary "Metallic High-Transmission Coating" (MHC) for an effective anti-reflection result that approaches a transmission of 99.5%.
The aluminium tube is light-baffled and blackened to ensure high contrast absorbing stray light.
The Evostar 72 ED telescope can be employed in astrophotography when used with its field flattener and reducer x 0.85. This accessory will reduce the focal ratio to f/4.93 and the focal length to only 357mm which is the perfect focal length for wide field objects such as the Andromeda Galaxy, Eta Carinae nebula or the center of the Milky Way.

I received the scope great condition. Well packaged and delivered within a couple of days from the order. The scope is well built and finished. Performance is exceptional for an ed refractor of 72 mm aperture. I intend using it for solar imaging through Daystar Quark coronospere filter. Will report on it's performance as a solar scope, as soon as the clouds clear. Thankyou again for your great service.
This OTA gives amazing results for its size. It is so light which makes it easy to transport. The quality is brilliant. Do yourself a favour and purchase a diagonal that fits into the eyepiece for live viewing. If your into astrophotography then you should also get yourself a field flattener/ reducer for those perfectly round stars in your photos and to help focus it. I absolutely love this product and I recommend it for beginners and the more experienced alike. It is great value for money. It’s perfect for shooting Nebulas, Galaxies and planets.
Service was fantastic. Bought the Scope, Field Flattener and the T ring adapter, and they even contacted me to say I'd ordered the wrong size adapter. Great work
