The Sharpstar Mark III is a new strain wave-geared German equatorial/Alt-Azimuth mount for serious on-the-go astrophotography.
Lightweight and portable at only 7.95kg, the Mark III has an impressive payload of 18kg without counterweight or 26kg with counterweight. The mount is fully CNC-machined and anodized for strength and stability.
The Mark III can be controlled via Wi-Fi or a wired USB connection via ASCOM/INDI, as well as with the included CNC-machined hand controller. Go-to functionality is powered by the open-source OnStep control software.
Note: In order to connect the Mark III to the ASIAIR, you must choose "OnStep beta" or "OnStep Electronics" in the mount selection menu.
The mount is equipped with an electromagnetic brake on the RA axis in case of sudden power failure, which will prevent your telescope from being damaged.
Using the Testar Tripod Adapter for SharpStar Mark III mount you can adapt this mount to the Hercules tripods, the iOptron Tri-Pier as well as the Testar Pier 2000.
The mount includes a mounting bracket natively compatible with the iOptron iPolar electronic polar alignment scope.
Note: mount does not include carbon fibre tripod.
